You must have such similar situations like me if you have any plan of what you want to accomplish in Star Trek Online game. I often keep my eyes open and hop into the Star Trek Online game from time to time just to check the game events or find out what is going on. You know, I hate to miss any wonderful events and best Star Trek Online guide, I believe most player have such a mentality like me. But the fact is that No ships are just idly floating about waiting for another urgent mission. That's where the new STO events system detailed in the latest Path to F2P blog comes in.
From STO Dev Blog #12, a new events system named events Calendar was introduced. The new Events feature on Tribble is intended to give both the planner and the spontaneous player something new to do in game. There are some activities that you can participate in only during a particular time. Some events are the new specifically designed content, while others are bonuses for playing existing parts of the game. In order to benefit most in the game, you should make it clear all the special events in game so as to make an informed decision. The events Calendar become very important to all STO players.
This Events Calendar helps you keep track of what’s happening and when, so you can see what’s coming and plan your play times to match the events in which you want to participate. The calendar also showing the in-game events planned for the next 48 hours, with other special events popping up and leaving on a less regular schedule. You can learn the upcoming events well and finger out the worthwhile events you should experience. So you can queue up to take part in these events as they become available. In other words, the STO Events Calendar gives an alternate path to the extant missions and episodes.
This actually sounds pretty cool and could be a nice addition to make the world seem more alive. What a pity is that the Calendar may uncover other weekend-long events that do not show on the carousel, such as Q XP Weekends, STF Weekends, or C-Store sales and other promotions. What is more, the Events Calendar only can cover the events in the 48 hours; this is just a timed instance, not really a dynamic event. I think they really need a team on hand to crank out the content.
STO team also took reassurance to all, “this is just the beginning. We have additional events in development to provide even more options to players. Some of the ones we expect to try out on Tribble in the next few weeks.” Maybe we should give STO team more time to perfect the Events Calendar. I really hope they can do something more impressive with the system in the future and make the STO world more interesting.
